Managing multiple companies from one login

4 min read · Updated 8 Jun 2026

One WBSync login can belong to multiple company accounts. Use the company switcher in the navigation to flip your active company — dashboard, projects, roles and permissions all switch with it. Each company is fully isolated from every other.

When you need more than one company

Common scenarios:

  • Independent consultant or QS — you work across several main contractors, each of which has their own WBSync account. One login, no juggling passwords.
  • Group with subsidiaries — a holding company runs several operating entities, each with their own operatives, billing and SSO config. Central staff can be members of all of them.
  • JV or alliance — a joint venture that needs a separate project space from each partner's main account.

How to join a second company

You don't self-register for additional companies. The Owner or Admin of the other company sends you an invite from their Settings → People page. When you accept, a new membership is added to your account — you stay on the same login.

Switch your active company

1
Open the company switcher

Click your company name or the switcher icon in the top navigation. A dropdown lists every company you're a member of. The current active one is highlighted.

2
Pick the company you want

The page reloads with the chosen company as the active context. Your dashboard, projects, operative list, WBS, and permissions all reflect that company. The URL stays the same — context is stored in your session, not the URL.

Roles are per-company. You might be a PM in Company A and a Foreman in Company B. The role that controls what you can do is always the one set for the active company — switching companies also switches the permissions you're working under.

Isolation and billing

Companies are fully isolated tenants. Projects, operatives, SSO configuration, billing, and API tokens all belong to one company only. Switching does not let you see or edit another company's data from within one context — you have to switch explicitly, and you can only see what your membership in that company allows. Billing is per-company: a Team plan in Company A doesn't affect Company B's operative cap.

Your primary (home) company

The first company you signed up with (or joined first) is your home company. It's the one you land on after login if no active-company session is set. Changing your primary company is done by an Admin from Settings → People → your profile.

Multi-company membership is available on every WBSync tier — it's an account-level feature, not a plan gate. An Operative on a free trial can be a member of multiple companies just as an Owner can.

Frequently asked

Can I create a second company myself?

No. You join additional companies via an invite from that company's Owner or Admin. The invite arrives by email; accepting it adds the membership to your existing login without creating a new account.

Does switching companies log me out of the other one?

No. Switching is instant and in-session — you stay authenticated and your browser simply shows a different company's context. Switch back at any time.

Can I be an Owner in one company and an Operative in another?

Yes. Each membership is independent. You'll have Owner-level access in the first company and Operative-level access in the second — permissions switch when you change your active company.

Will my API token work across all my companies?

No. API tokens are scoped to one company. If you need API access to multiple companies, generate a separate token in each one.

Can my SSO provider cover all my companies?

Each company has its own SSO configuration. If you're in two companies that each have SSO set up, you'll authenticate through whichever IdP matches the email domain at login.
